Notes - Today was one of the those days where rationalization almost tempted the heck out of my position with JUDDD. I had quite the conversation inside Susie's head this morning as I was showering and getting ready for today.
"You know this is bullshit, right?"
"No. I don't know that. But I do know I'm tired. Exhausted. And hungry. I'm sick of doing DDs and I on top of all the stress in my life right now, I don't wanna do 'em. I want to eat every day like a normal person. I want to eat when I wake up in the morning like a normal person. I wanna lose weight with normal effort, like a normal person."
"Amen, my sistah! Now you're talkin! Let's go make us a little breakfast taco! Or a BOB! Let's go have a BOB! This JUDDD stuff is for the birds. You A1c's have been going up for the last 6 months and you've been JUDDDing. I'm not noticing it's doing you any good."
"You are a bad influence on me."
"Oh yeah I am! Someone has to talk sense around here."
"Well, you're not talking sense, you're talking temptation and rationalization."
"Look you have 2-1/2 weeks tops before you're due to hit the slab in the OR. Should you really be starving your body every other day? Don't you think you should just take a hall pass and give yourself a break? You have plumbing issues from hell, deadlines out the ying yang, stress of epic proportions, and you're goin' under the knife in less than 3 weeks. And you're turnin' 50!!!!!"
"Gosh, when you say it that way, you make so much sense. But you are also the queen of gettin me to do bad things. You don't have a very good track record you know."
"Yeah, I agree, running with scissors and eating cookies before dinners are not smart choices. But live and learn, and move on. What are you afraid of? Why not just do Atkins at 30g of carbs and just maintain."
"I'll think about it."
"Seriously, how much weight have you lost since you really began JUDDD in earnest?"
"8-10lbs since January 25."
"Don't you think that's a sign it isn't working for you?"
"I wish I knew. The A1c moving in the wrong direction isn't so hot. But I don't lose well on Atkins either. And I have to carb up for at least 3-4 days before surgery anyway cuz I can't go in to the OR in ketosis he told me. He was very clear about that."
"I think you should Atkins."
"Oh, yeah. I remember one of the reasons I JUDDD, cuz when I eat Atkins, even controlling protein to 60g per day, I start smelling ammonia all over! And with JUDDD, because one day is lower protein, I am at least about to eat 3-4oz per meal of protein and not smell ammonia."
"Well, try it again. Just one more time."
"Sigh. You are trying my patience you know."
