Notes - I broke the 220lb sound barrier this morning. I will not get too excited by this. I will likely have a re-gain. I have had zero appetite this week and eating has been difficult. When I am on nebulizers, my appetite completely disappears and I have to force eat.

When I have asthma flares, I don't like having a full tummy, cuz it makes breathing more difficult. So I end up eating things like brothy soups or light fare and salads with little protein. Protein is harder to digest when I have asthma. Don't know why?

My CRR schedule has been off the last two days! I had a second full day of tests for surgery: bloodwork, chest xray, EKG, and a surprise nuclear stress test. I had a normal response but the result was less than fun to hear, "The patient has extremely poor functional capacity for age."

I take that to mean, "This patient needs a spankin' for bein' so amazingly out of shape." Of course, I could be kind and mention that I also have asthma, lymphedema, have lost 55lbs during the last year alone and 95lbs officially, over the last 12 years, and overall bone/body pain from arthritis and anti-cancer drugs...but those are all cop-out excuses. I gotta get my butt in gear and get back to walking! Bottom line. The end!!!!

And 6+ years ago, my echocardiogram showed an elarged left ventrical with left ventricular thickening. And although I still show some thickening, I no longer show an enlarged left ventrical! So that's great news. And take that all you folks who think that low carb is a "killer", atherogenic diet! In fact, it's helped heal my heart. If they think I'm out of shape now, I shudder to think what they would have thought about me 55lbs ago or worse, 95lbs ago, when I could barely move!

So, I just need to say to myself, "Patience grasshoppah. All in good time. I will get there eventually!"

I had to eat today, even though I generally fast on Fridays for religious devotion. The nuclear stress test required me to eat and to eat carbs! Imagine! I asked if I could eat just a couple of hard boiled eggs and a half of a tomato, and they said, "No, that's not enough food. Maybe add a slice of toast to it and a glass of juice."

I answered, "I don't eat that stuff."

They replied, "You need to have at least a piece of toast and juice."

So I compromised. *sigh*

I had the guts from a breakfast burrito with 1/3 of the tortilla and 1/3c of grits with butter. Hell, if I'm gonna go down in flames, I am going to at least eat something that I love...(ahem, grits...and tortillas).

Then for lunch I got to eat low carb again. So I had a salad with a small scoop of tuna salad and bit of chicken salad, hummus, and marinated tomatoes and cucumbers, and pretended to ignore any mercury lurking in the depths of the tuna salad.

I was pooped today. Partly from sleeping 5 hours last night and partly from getting up at 5am and having 2 full days of medical tests and travel! Not to mention being radioactive. So I came home and have spent the late afternoon and evening napping. I pulled an lc pz skin from the freezer and made a quick pepperoni pizza. I'm too pooped to put the nutrition totals together and really, do not intend to. I don't want to be saddened by how gruesome they look.

I will just take this as a JUDDD UD (Up Day) and go back to a DD (Down Day) rotation tomorrow. Although I add low carb to JUDDD, it is perfectly "JUDDD legal" to have high carb or moderate carb UD. I will kindly call this day a "moderate carb day". LOL. It should be interesting to see my weight tomorrow. I'm expecting a 4lb bounce.

Resumed JUDDD schedule while continuing with the Circadian Rhythm Schedule for eating and sleeping windows.

July 23 - August 12 -

I'm starting an n=1 pseudo-experiment today. It's based on experiments with Calorie Restriction and Food Restriction or Food Windows. I'm working with some guidance on this. The idea will be to reset my Circadian Rhythms.New research shows that Circadian Rhythm disruption influences inflammation and obesity as well as insulin sensitivity. These are all areas I'm desperate to address because fixing these areas could allow my body to heal. This could give me a better shot at remaining cancer free.

For the next 3 weeks, I must reset the Circadian Clock inside my body. To reset the CC (Circadian Clock) I need to discontinue JUDDD over the next 3 weeks and simply adhere to a feeding, sleeping and waking schedule. I will be adding a note section at the end of each day in order to evaluate status and moods.

Step 1: Eat a low carb diet without calorie restriction for the next 3 weeks without any type of calorie rotation.

Step 2: Eat all meals within an 8 hour feeding window - 11am - 7pm. Absolutely no eating after 7pm. Non-caloric liquids are allowed on demand.

Step 3: Adhere to a bedtime with total darkness at 11pm and wake time of 6:30am, every day.

Step 4: After 3 weeks I will resume JUDDD Rotations with a 20% Calorie Restriction on Down Days - 500 kcals, Up Days will allow up to 2340 kcals. The JUDDD Rotation will feature low carb nutrition. Continue to follow the FR (Food Restriction eating window, bedtime, and waking time.)

Step 5: After 2 weeks back on JUDDD Rotations, evaluate the ongoing weight loss level I feel comfortable in sustaining for the long term. I can go as high as a 50% restriction and still experience activation of the SIRT1 genes and asthma alleviation. Continue to follow the FR (Food Restriction eating window, bedtime, and waking time.)

JUDDD Plan -

What in the Sam-hill, cockamamie food plan are you following? That can't be low carb!! Well, you're right it isn't simply low carb. I follow a derivation of the Johnson's Alternate Day Diet. I tweaked the JUDDD diet, as it's called, into a low carb version.

I choose to follow this plan right now, because I am experiencing dramatic improvement on asthma symptoms, blood sugar control and weight loss.

More importantly, I also experienced a greater than 50% response rate in neo-adjuvant chemotherapy towards a high grade prolific ER+/PR+/Her2Neu- breast cancer and lost 45lbs during treatment - when most people in breast cancer treatment gain 10-20lbs. (KI-67 was 22% with 17mitotic bodies).

Sure, I'm a turtle. Weight loss is slow weight loss. But it's weight loss! Hope that helps bring you up to speed!

The JUDDD diet has quite a bit of testing behind it and is founded upon theories that alternate day caloric restriction activates the longevity gene, the SIRT1 gene.

Suggested side effects of the JUDDD Diet are greater blood sugar control, reduction of systemic inflammation, relief or improvement of asthma conditions, reduction in movement disorder brain dysfunction, and possible anti-cancer effects.

But! Key to remember, I'm an n=1, not a doctor, not a nutritionist, nor allied health practitioner and you MUST do your own research. I'm just a girl who had cancer and is dancing with NED at this point in time.
